Nestled between Kitzbüheler Horn and Hahnenkamm at an altitude of 800 meters is the Kitzbühel skiing region in an extremely favorable Northwest Staulage (a natural geographic barrier enabling a large amount of snow to fall on the valley below), meaning that the snow and skiing right into the valley is guaranteed from December until April. Owing to the layer of grass extending up to 2,000 meters – as opposed to the mainly rocky subsoil in other skiing regions – even relatively smalls amounts of snow are already enough to go skiing in Kitzbühel without any trouble at all.

Around 170 kilometers of perfectly prepared ski slopes and 33 kilometers of designated ski routes in all levels of difficulty, action-packed snowboard fun parks, natural bobsleigh runs, plus hundreds of kilometers of cross-country ski runs and winter hiking trails make the Kitzbühel skiing region, which, incidentally, extends across seven municipalities and two provinces, the absolute winter sport paradise in the Alps.
With a total of 53 ultra-modern gondolas and lifts, Bergbahn AG Kitzbühel is the biggest cable car company in Austria and transports myriads of happy winter sport fans to the various snow-covered hillsides, ski slopes, ski huts and refreshment stations on a daily basis.
